AS OF 10/05/99 !
Someone thought that i wrote (made up) this stuff myself, when in fact these are real emails from real people and i have saved copies of each and every one of them for future use (law suits, etc.) !
#85 Curt Lipsey should also have been removed from the race.  The rule book states that if you get out of your car you are automatically DQ'd,  He threatened little Alan Jr. the night before in front of the Sherriff's department who did nothing told him that " if you think what they did to you was bad, then you aint seen nothing yet, you still got it coming to you and im going to get you"  , of course they did nothing, nor did they mention it when the actual event happened.  #99 and #85 should have been removed from the race, and the race continue as is.  no 15 minute intermission to fix your cars, that was total BS !
What's up with the blue/yellow move over flag, the races this past weekend for bigger money and no lap traffic would move over, or get black flagged for not moving over! This is highly dangerous, and many front runners lost positions because of it! Whats up with that?
They should have let the #85 fix his car only, they should have never let the other cars get a 15 minute intermission to go fix their cars, the cars that remained on the track should have been 1st 2nd 3rd, etc. and those that left the track should have lined up in the rear as they re-entered the track. That was BS.
The official score keeper that worked up there 3 days for the "big race" never got paid? Is that true?
It was said that the #82 was the last car to come out onto the track, as they had many adjustments to make cause they had mis-judged their setup.  Actually after the #82 entered the track, #56 came out on the track, then the #85 (last).
The #7 Bryan Foy did not spin out, the caution was called to Jeff by Todd prior to Bryan spinning out cause off all the oil and the oil pan left out on the track in turns 3 & 4 by the #98 car. The caution was called as the leaders were coming down the back straightaway into turns 3 & 4.
#3J has a spool, or he wouldnt keep losing both axles.  A real "Stock" car would only loose one axle, not two!
Mr. Sonny buys the #3T & #3J new tires every other week, what do you expect!
Hope everyone marked their calendars for Sept 12th at noon at Bogue Falaya Park in Covington.  I am looking forward to seeing my friends from Suncoast, Hickory, Westbank, Pike Co, Baton Rouge, Loranger, Hattiesburg, etc. Its gonna be alot of fun !
Hey, Ms. Douglas, I think you have a great site that not only helped expose the track, but also got alot of the racer's there noticed.  I think its a shame that this certain person has to be this way.  You were not doing anything to hurt that race track or the people who are involved, you were only listing the facts and trying to promote it.  I hope you'll still be able to have the chat room and forum, because that is the only way I can stay in touch with you guys being that I no longer race there (for reasons im sure you already know).  God Bless and get well soon.
Will you be sending your written story like you put on your website or are you giving up on that because of his threats?  Keeping in touch by email or any other way sounds like a good idea to me.  I know you wont have it on your site anymore, just wondering if I could still get the results story somehow.  I enjoyed reading what you wrote.  Just sorry it had to come down to this.  Seems like he isnt happy unless he is causing trouble for someone.
He just shows the racing community what kind of person he rally is.  Not that most people didnt know it already.  I know you work hard at the site, and do it as a service for them.  Your hard work wasnt appreciated.  But, I am sure the racers appreciated it.  It is his loss not yours.  Will still enjoy reading about all the OTHER tracks!
Sounds to me like you cant please some folks, no matter how good you are to them.  Please keep me on your mailing lists! I really like the website!
He never could accept help.  Doesnt he realize that you are giving him FREE publicity? Never appreciated all you did for him.  Cant teach an old dog new tricks.  And I doubt he'll drop your class, because that would be too many cars to turn away.  He cant afford to loose any more cars! Good Luck!
OKAY.......let me get this straight.....there are NO updates for Hickory at all at your web site.  Correct????? Just the other tracks.  What a stupid idea.  What more can i say?  I hope Punkin wins it all for you, and YOU walk in there and TAKE the money!  Put a smile on your face too!  Go get em girlfriend!
I went to the site to check the updates, and the victory lane said it was deleted!  How do we get the updates now?
Sometimes people just dont appreciate what you do for them, its like that in all walks of life.  Without you, i dont think too many people would know what was happening at hickory, you do a good job on results on the web and radio.  I am sure theres other tracks that would like ya'll to come if ya'll want to come here, call me and i will talk to the owners and see if he will add mini mod.  I cant make any promises on payout, but i will try,  as for the rest of the cars, i am sure they can fit in a class, because if he dont want them, we sure could use them.   its not the best track, but they are trying and its getting better!
You can keep us on your mailing list.  My husband has no problem when his name is mentioned in any of the articles when it comes to races, as long as they have the stories right!  Some people....if things dont go right for them... all they want to do is start trouble and try to see how far they can make it go.  True or Untrue.  Any picture that has my husband and his race car in it...he has no problem with it being posted on a board or newspaper.  I take care of my own personal homepage, high school message board/chat room and made a class of 1975 website for my alumni class.  And like you...all on my own time.  Hasnt cost me anything yet, but time....but with my reunion coming up next year....it probably will soon.  Keep up the good Work !
I thought you were providing a great service to the track and the drivers that race there.  Sorry that the "powers that be" didn't feel the same way.  What about the Anti-Gordon websights?  I dont think he could really have you take the sight down, but I can understand you not wanting to go through the hassle, and certainly not wanting to have the class cut at the track.
You know, I think you're really getting a raw deal! I was a crewed for a super street driver (Pro Stock) in Virginia.  We went to many tracks throughout Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, etc.  Not to affend anyone down there, or anyone who has a deep love for Hickory, but that track could use all of the promoting it can get.  The tracks around this area are not "driver friendly" from what i've seen and heard.  Ive especially heard negative remarks about hickory. The sad part is that it has an awesome layout and could be a much better track.  There was only one tri-oval dirt track in southern VA, and now its paved.  A lot of drivers cam from all around to experience the speed of the dirt tri-oval.  Hickory is nice and has some really good car counts in the past, in the Pure and Street Stock classes, and some talented driving in all of the ranks.  But the promotion of the track is really lacking.  Your web sight really did that track some justice, and now they spit it back in  your face!  I think everyone should pack it up and head out of town to race for a couple of weeks to give them a sanity check.  Dont think some racers havent done that before at some of the Saturday night tracks.  It was even done back on the day at Talledega when Winston Cup was still the Grand National divisions.   The track needs to realize the favor youre doing for them and treat you as the bread and butter that you are.  People come to see you put on a show, and look forward to your stories each week.  With out the racers there are no fans,  with out promotion tickets dont get sold.  I hope im not out of line here, if i am then i apologize.
Thanks Cindy, you have been a source of information, know how, and fun!  I hate to see Hickory taken off the web.  I love reading your stories about past racing weekends.  No matter what happens you guys will always have my support.  Ya'll are quite a group of people, and im proud to know all of you.  I am racing this weekend.  We're gonna go out there and show them how its done! Keep in touch Cindy Ill see al of you this weekend!
That track is a dive! I wish you guys all the best with the web page and keep up the good work!
Personally, I dont think you need to apologize to anyone.  I dont see how you did anything but good PR for him.   Chalk that up to his stupididty and just wasted time  on your part unfortunately.  He will never learn and itst just too bad that he couldnt see the forest for the trees, couldnt stand the truth.  I just feel bad that you spent so much time and money for someone that cant appreciate what you did for him....so, you arent alone.  Keep a stiff upper lip and go from there.  Do your best to make you car #1 each week and take all of his moeny you can.
THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AT PIKE COUNTY ( and a Bayou Speedway Tradition)
We held our first "Flag Night" at Bayou Speedway.  To make it "Flag Night" we sold the checkered flags from the souvenir stands so that the kids would have something to get the drivers to autograph on.  Now, we also have the "Souvenir Program" with an "autograph page" on it.  We schedule the activity at intermission.  All drivers who wish to participate, bring their cars on to the track (and line them up diagonally) and the fans are allowed to go down to meet them.  This was such a success that we schedule two per year.  Once the drivers knew we would continue this tradition, they began gathering up little give-away items. Drivers had those tiny frisbees made with their name, car #, and division, and some even put Bayou Speedway on them. Others had key chains, t-shirts, beanie babies, and you name it!  Some drivers who couldn't forgo this expense called their sponsors and got ink pens, pencils, key chains, mini-notebooks, etc. and then added a handful of candy and made up a ditty bag for the kids.  We were amazed at the creativity and the thoughtfulness that went into this event!  One driver has taken a photograph and put it on plastic cups then autographed them! Our photographer is on hand taking pictures and if someone wants a professional picture made with their favorite driver, then they let him know in advance, so that it gets done while they are all on the track.  Sometimes, the only way the fans really get to meet their favorite drivers! This is nice too cause the driver can autograph the picture for the kids the following week, sometimes the driver will get the picture for the fan, autograph it and then take it to them personally!  It only helps to further their career, gets their sponsors name out there, and most of all promotes good sportsmanship! Note: Pike county did this when their lights went out, and were waiting for them to be repaired! What a great success! More power to both ya'll!
Sharon just told me tonight that he made you take Hickory off your web site, or he would sue you.  He cant do that.  He told some drivers a week ago to put their junk on the trailer and go, he didnt need them. So we had about 10 new cars this week!
I guess he will never learn he will keep running them off one by one.  Our car count just keeps growing and growing up to 130s now.  I wish he would add 4 cylinders again so you could come here sometime.
Hi, Cindy! I hope that you are feeling better.  You missed a pretty controversial night at the races Saturday night! The first Pure Stock race was won by Punkin MT2, followed by Benny Creel and Ray Creel.  In the second heat it was #7 Mark Barbara and #24C Brett Cressionnie, and #3Tii Mark Woodall.  Anyway, to make a long story short....Punkin won the feature followed by #7 Mark Barbara and #24C Brett Cressionnie for third.  When we got to the tech area, they pulled the valve covers on all three of us! #24C even had to pull his carburetor!  All three were disqualified! Ray Creel finished fourth, so they called him to the tech area.  All they checked on his car was vacuum!!!!!  Eight cars in the Pure Stock class were disqualified except Ray Creel!  Punkin MT2, #7 Barbara, and #24C Cressionnie put on a great race for the fans every week! They drive clean, which is more than I can say about some others, and we have a great time doing it! Why did they do that? The only answer for the rest of the Pure Stock class is that our last names are not CREEL!  We really love racing on that track, but the favoritism that they show toward the Creel boys is making me think twice about running Pure Stock again.  They are taking all the fun out of it.
You can't beat the track officials and the #40 car in Street Stock!
Well, I'm going to Menge Saturday night mostly just to prove a point.  I drove to Miss. every weekend for 2 years and I'll do it again.  I won the Street Stock heat race, and finished third in the feature behind #V4 Bryan Crawford, and #40 Flynn.  When we went to tech, he checked our carbs and let them go, but told me to pull my valve covers.  He didn't find anything, but that's not the point.  Why didn't they pull the other's valve covers?  What makes them any different than me? They could have been cheating, but he wouldn't know because he didn't check.  It's the same favoritism that has been going on for too long, and I'm tired of it.  Hope you are feeling better!
These people can't stick together.  The cheating and bad calls could be stopped if we (not all) just enough to get His attention would come to the races and park outside of the pit gate, and not go in if we couldn't get his attention?! I don't think we could get enough to do this, everyone wants to talk big, but they aren't ready to back up their mouth.  The issues that need to be addressed is: 1.  Get rid of the flagman, he cheats any one that he or his friends don't like.  Bad calls and wrong flags during races.  2.  The persons timing in are putting the persons in the lead that they want to.  It doesn't make any difference what time you turn, they will give you what they want you to have.  This controls the race as this track has only 2 places to pass.  And you can't bump their firends cars they will black flag you.  Let's hope for changes.
Everyone that I know that went to Hickory left before the features because they were so disgusted about how late it was.
Well, we wanted to try Hickory since Pike got rained out.  The class we had to run is the Pure Stock class.  It is a one groove track, 22 cars started the feature.  We started in the rear due to us arriving late.  Lots of spins by other cars and cautions. Moved up a couple of places from last.  The only way to pass was going to the outside.  I made an outside pass on a car in #3 & #4, but was not clear enough to get in the groove by turns #1 & #2. I spun on the high side.  I saw another car coming at me, he was going to t-bone my driver's door.  I nailed the gas to try to turn the rear of my car to his car.  Too late.  Got nailed just in front of the rear tire on driver's side, the car is a total loss.  The frame is bent inward and downward.  The cage tore apart from the frame mount.  The welds tore in several places.  And, the entire cage was displaced about a foot out the right side door.  The upright and halo were pushed in far enough to bend the top of my seat.  All that damage and that was an Ashley Brothers full chassis cage!
I have told everyone which 2 tracks never to go to. But now that you know one of them! We knew where not to go, so we went to Menge.  Saw a wonderful show and was done at 11 and home for 12:30!
I am so sorry about the car.  Wish it could be fixed.  When I saw a few of our cars going down the road to these other 2 tracks I had a knot in the pit of my stomach because I know what happens at them.
It all has to do with the people who own the track and taking partiallity over their own family! Let them get away with stuff when they should get black flagged, or put to the back of the pack, etc.  Too many family members getting the royal treatment and not being treated like everybody else. The other thing is the time.  If they start at 7ish, and don't really have that many cars, they need to get their stuff together and get things going and get out of there.  If that track would get their stuff together, they might have more people coming there.
How's everything in the hospital? I don't know if i'll go back to Hickory or not.  it, is a waste of time and money.  There is just too much favortism.  If I drive the pure stock car, they will either black flag me or dq me or something.  In the street stock car, the #40 and #41 cars already have the 1st place money.  Prostock he has legalized the Pike County Late Models in this class, but only if you are from out of town.  If you want to know the pay out for this coming weekend, i will give it to you.  Pure stock will be 3J and 3T, street stock will be 40 and 41,  Prostock will be #7, #41 if the #43 isnt there.  Latemodel will be F4 and 56, the ump class will be 26C or 224.  The Flag Man will be threatening to black flag everybody.   And He will be talking about how good his track is ran with no favortism and how much money he has spent.  the tech man will be telling him what a wiz he is when he cant answer non of the drivers questions and listening to his radio so he can tell him what cars will pass tech or not.  And all the drivers saying thats it, i ain't never coming back, so he will pay them their place anyway just to shut them up!  And then see who will be first to get there next week!  So i don't see no reason for me to go.  Its the same thing week after week til 3 or 4am.
Are You OK Now?  Been thinking about you.  Saturday night Pike County had 150 cars waiting to get in, but the rain just wouldn't quit.  About 15 cars went to Hickory.  They are all mad now.  Three of them say they totaled their cars and will never go back there again.  Three Late Models left before the feature because it was too late.  Some of the cars from Hickory said they would come race at Pike county from now on cause they are fed up with with the way things are.  We went past Hickory and went to Menge, watched the Cajun Sprinters, finished up at 11, was home for 12:30!
Hey Lady! Well I would like to know what's happening too! So if you find out please let the rest of us know!  I do think that sometimes the flag man throws the black flag a little too quick.  Like a couple of weeks ago, #28 got a warning when he jumped the start, then go thrown out for, bumping someone later in the race.  I think that the warning and the ultimate black flag should be for the same offense.  If you jump the start onece, then do it again, then maybe move them to the back (but let them race), but after the start then that shouldn't be counted anymore.  If you bump someone then that's one and if you do something else, than that's another one, not two.  If you do the same one again, after being warned, then flag them.  Seldom do people do something more than once, and a little bumping is inevitable.  I don't think that these cars are that precise, that you can run that close to others with no touching, and I think that perhaps he is a little overzealous at times.  And if you piss him off you're out!  Last week there was a new guy running who bumped someone.  It was not intentional, it just happened, and he was warned.  He stopped to try to find out why he had been warned and the flag man grabbed the flag and was on the verge of black flagging him!  Now I don't envy the flag man or his position or job, but he should mellow out a little.  He does a pretty good job most of the time, and I don't think I would want to even try to do what he is doing.  But this may be some of the reasons that some people don't want to come back.  I would be interested in other reasons, just out of curiosity.  I hope you are feeling better, and are recovering OK from yuor operation.  Welcome back, and keep up the good work!
These are old forums.
Just wanted to let you know, I like your page.  It looks real good, and the content is Great! Been looking around at the race results, pictures, and rules, and I think you have put together a fantastic source of information and news about the local racing!  Like I said, I really like the web site, it has lots of great things in it, and the race commentary is Great! Lets me relive some of the events by reading and remembering seeing it happen! Keep up the fantastic work!!!
Thanks for having a homepage that lets us know what other tracks are doing to recognize their drivers.
Cynthia, I think your web page is very welcomed from my point of view! Remember, if you cant do it in the dirt, take it to the house!
Good to have your add. looking for you on saturday nights! Keep up the good work on the radio!
Great site. Seen ya race at Hickory and had your shop bust some balljoints loose for me.  Big time dirt fan. Used to crew for a super street in Virginia and North Carolina. Caught your web site on the spoiler of your car. Bookmarked it and sent it to a couple of drivers!
Great web site, but would expect nothing but the best from you and Mike!
Just surfed on, your site looks good!!! Keep up the good work!
Wonder why the tower isn't giving you any info?  For years, short tracks have
begged for exposure.  Now they're getting the opportunity to be spoonfed &
make it tough on someone l;ike you that's trying to make sure they, and their
drivers get valuable exposure.  Just wanted you to know that I appreciate it,
and I'm sure that many of your drivers do also.
Noticed you had Chick Boyd there on 5/29 & I heard that he was there last
night.  He's always been a favorite of mine, and a man a have a lot of
respect for.  I know he recently got his car put back together, so as he
makes adjustments each week, I'm sure you'll be seeing him get closer to the
front each week!  Watch him, he runs a good race and really puts on a show
for everyone.  Looking forward to seeing how he did this week, and getting your update next
week!
 Hey Cindy,
Do you have a place on here to just put comments on the race tracks?
Maybe3 if every body got to express thier oppinions It will open some
eyes at the tracks and things might change. Like the teching, the
flagmen, the owners, and the other neg. things about the tracks. That
way it is not just one person saying bad things. And them if the ever do
any right.
